Sustainability has become a central concern in light of the environmental, social, and economic challenges that threaten global well-being. However, its frequent use often lacks scientific precision. Morelli (2011) defines it as the condition in which human needs are met without compromising the regenerative capacity of ecosystems, emphasizing the interdependence between environmental, social, and economic systems. In higher education, universities can serve as “living laboratories” to promote sustainability and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (Purcell et al., 2019). Based on this premise, we conducted a quantitative study among users of the common spaces at the National University of Comahue to learn about their perspectives before and after implementing awareness interventions on the use of these spaces and to determine whether their conditions impact productivity. The results show that, after the changes were made and awareness was raised about their use, users tend to remember to care for them and therefore feel more comfortable, which in turn increases their productivity.

Durante el año 2025, la Cátedra de Inglés de la Facultad de Economía, a cargo de la profesora María Belén Martínez del Departamento de Idiomas con Propósitos Específicos, desarrolló un trabajo basado en proyectos. A lo largo del cursado, los estudiantes llevaron adelante proyectos de investigación–servicio en los que articularon sus saberes de inglés con los contenidos propios de sus carreras y con la resolución de problemáticas reales de la comunidad. El proceso incluyó la lectura y el análisis de textos académicos en inglés para la elaboración del marco teórico, la selección de un problema relevante, el diseño e implementación de una metodología de investigación, y la comparación de resultados con los aportes de autores especializados. Cada proyecto culminó con la redacción de un informe final en formato de paper, presentado en español e inglés, siguiendo una plantilla estandarizada.

Abstract

New perspectives on vocabulary learning and teaching have shifted away from the conception of vocabulary as merely single words to adopt a more comprehensive approach that includes formulaic sequences. These expressions, defined by Wray (2002) as a string “continuous or discontinuous of words […] that is stored and retrieved whole from memory at the time of use” (p. 7), amount to approximately 52 % of written discourse, according to Erman and Warren (2000). This “pervasiveness” becomes evident in fictional narrative texts such as myths and legends, which additionally share unique grammatical, lexical and stylistic features. The wealthy lexical content that pervades these text types certainly deserves special treatment in the EFL classroom. Both myths and legends offer an array of formulaic expressions that can be explicitly taught not only to enrich learners’ vocabulary, but also to boost their receptive and productive skills. To start with, the audience will be given a brief introduction to what a formulaic sequence is and the benefits that EFL learners can derive from becoming aware of them and using them effectively. Subsequently, they will read an abridged version of a legend for a group of children. After that, they will be presented with a set of pre-reading tasks, which they will have to order considering their linguistic and task complexity. Once their didactic sequences have been discussed, they will be briefly introduced to Nation (2001)’s three processes for learning a lexical item: noticing, retrieval and generative use. Afterwards, they will solve and analyse a series of while-reading tasks aimed at helping EFL learners to both notice a set of selected formulaic sequences and re-use them through more or less guided practice. During their group discussion, they will fill in a checklist through which they will reflect upon the type of task, the context for each task and the possibility for EFL learners to predict the meaning of these chunks, among some other relevant features. Finally, different post-reading tasks will prompt the participants to discuss the possibility for learners to employ the selected formulaic sequences in a new context. We invite participants to genuinely embrace our proposal, discovering in them texts which abound in sequences worth teaching due to the considerable advantages they offer EFL learners.

Roca, el periódico <i>La Nación</i> (fundado por Bartolomé Mitre) de Buenos Aires crea y publica mensualmente una colección de obras literarias llamada <i>La Biblioteca de La Nación</i>. La idea del proyecto era lanzar una colección de fácil acceso para la población, a precios populares y con diversidad de títulos, con la intención de constituir una literatura o biblioteca nacional que ayude a homogeneizar la diversa población del país.<br />Del total de 872 volúmenes publicados, sólo 111 habían sido escritos originalmente en castellano. El resto, mayormente de procedencia francesa, provenían del imaginario ficcional europeo. Algunos autores que compusieron la colección fueron: Enrique Ibsen, Shakespeare, Goethe, Madame de Staël, Lamartine, Flaubert, Michelet, Hugh Conway, Renato Lefebvre, Feuillet, Samuel Haigh, J. P. y N. Robertson, F. B. Head, Roberto Proctor, Basilio Hall, Helen Hunt-Jackson. Las traducciones de las obras fueron realizadas por hombres letrados de la época, muchos de los que cumplieron roles importantes en la historia política y cultural de América Latina del siglo XIX y principios del s. XX. Algunos de ellos fueron Sarmiento, Mansilla, Mitre, Martí y Aldao.</p>

<p text="" align="justify">En relación a su actividad como escritor y poeta, la obra que más se destacó fue <i>Una excursión a los indios ranqueles</i>, que fue publicada a modo de cartas dirigidas a Santiago Arcos. Además,realizó publicaciones en el diario <i>Sud América </i>caracterizadas por el relato coloquial, relatos breves,anécdotas, conversaciones o diálogos.</p>
<p text="" align="justify">En relación a su actividad como traductor, Mansilla tradujo junto a Sarmiento <i>París en América </i>(Renato Lafebvre, 1863)<i>,</i> que luego incluyeron en la colección de <i>La Biblioteca de La Nación</i>. En este trabajo, los traductores realizan comentarios mediante notas al pie donde expresan dos estrategias utilizadas para la traducción: una léxica (el uso de neologismos como “montonorizado”, “desespañolización” y “civilizables”) y otra morfosintáctica (optan por utilizar el pronombre “vos” en vez de “usted” o “tu”). Además tradujo para sí (una parte de) <i>La novela experimental</i> de Émile Zola.</p>

<p align="justify">Como recurso didáctico para la enseñanza de ILE, las leyendas tienen el potencial de<span>fomentar la comprensión lectora, ofrecen el contexto ideal para enseñar ciertos ítems lingüísticos, proporcionan explicaciones de fenómenos naturales y suscitan vívidos debates acerca de temas complejos en la enseñanza de ILE. Asimismo, constituyen una fuente abundante de cadenas de palabras identificadas como secuencias formulaicas (SSFF)(Wray, 2002). Lindstrombergy Boers (2008) sugieren que un repertorio exhaustivo de dichas unidades prefabricadas afectan positivamente la producción oral y escrita, </span><span>y </span><span>facilitan </span><span>la </span><span>comprensión </span><span>lectora </span><span>y </span><span>auditiva, </span><span>ya </span><span>que </span><span>actúan </span><span>como </span><span>una </span><span>suerte </span><span>de </span>«<i>islands of accuracy</i>» (islas de precisión) (Lindstromberg y Boers, 2008, p. 9) a las que <span>los aprendientes pueden aferrarse mientras procesan la L1. <p align="justify"><span>La finalidad de esta presentación </span><span>es presentar </span><span>a la </span><span>audiencia </span><span>los </span><span>principios </span><span>teóricos </span><span>básicos </span><span>que subyacen la enseñanza de un grupo de SSFF extraídas de una leyenda para niños. </span><span>Posteriormente, se expondrán los criterios de selección y verificación de la frecuencia de</span><span>dichas </span><span>SSFF, </span><span>junto </span><span>con </span><span>una </span><span>descripción </span><span>del </span><span>proceso </span><span>de </span><span>adaptación </span><span>del </span><span>material </span><span>al </span><span>nivel </span><span>de </span><span>los </span><span>estudiantes y de diseño de actividades. Finalmente, se compartirán algunas recomendaciones </span><span>prácticas </span><span>para </span><span>la </span><span>enseñanza </span><span>y </span><span>el aprendizaje </span><span>de SSFF. </span><span>Se </span><span>espera que </span>esta ponencia sensibilice a los profesores de ILE sobre los beneficios de la adopción de<span>un enfoque formulaico de enseñanza de vocabulario a partir del uso de una leyenda y les</span><span>brinde</span><span>las herramientas para </span><span>el diseño de planificaciones para tal fin.</span></p>
<strong>ABSTRACT.</strong> As educational tools, legends can strengthen L2 learners’ reading skills, contextualize specific language points, explain natural phenomena, and spark off lively debate about complex issues in the EFL classroom. They can also provide L2 learners with a rich diet of strings of words, which have been named “formulaic sequences” (FSs) by Wray (2002). Lindstromberg & Boers (2008) suggest that an extensive repertoire of these readymade units impacts positively on fluent writing and speaking and facilitates readingand listening comprehension as these sequences act as “islands of accuracy” (Lindstromberg & Boers, 2008) L2 learners can cling to while processing language (in bits). However, unlike L1 learners who can acquire these phrases effortlessly, L2 learnersfind it hard to notice the ubiquity of these phrases probably due to years of a word- focused, vocabulary teaching approach and insufficient exposure to the target language. In fact, FSs are like “big words” (Thornbury, 2019), so teaching individual words or FSsshould not differ considerably. Following Nation’s processes of learning vocabulary (2001) and Lindstromberg & Boers’ principles of effective vocabulary teaching (2008), EFL teachers are encouraged to draw their learners’ attention to FSs in any type of text, provide these learners with guided, consistent practice on the target FSs, and offer them opportunities to produce the selected chunks in meaningful contexts. This presentation aims at introducing the audience to the basic theoretical principles underlying the explicit instruction of some FSs selected from a legend for children. A set of steps concerning the selection criteria and verification of frequency of the target FSs will be outlined, together with a description of the process of material adaptation to the learner proficiency level and lesson design. Finally, some practical recommendations on the teaching and learning of FSs will be shared. This presentation is expected to sensitize EFL teachers to the pedagogical benefits of adopting a FS-based vocabulary teaching approach when working on a legend and equip them with some essential, useful tools for the design of their lesson plans.

Asimismo, constituyen una fuente abundante de cadenas de palabras identificadas como secuencias formulaicas (SSFF)(Wray, 2002). Lindstrombergy Boers (2008) sugieren que un repertorio exhaustivo de dichas unidades prefabricadas afectan positivamente la producción oral y escrita, y facilitan la comprensión lectora y auditiva, ya que actúan como una suerte de «islands of accuracy» (islas de precisión) (Lindstromberg y Boers, 2008, p. 9) a las que los aprendientes pueden aferrarse mientras procesan la L1. Sin embargo, a diferencia de la adquisición de una L1, en la que estas frases se adquieren naturalmente, en el aprendizaje de un idioma extranjero, los aprendices no suelen dar cuenta de la ubicuidad de estas SSFF, probablemente debido a enfoques de enseñanza tradicionales centrados en unidades léxicas separadas y una exposición insuficiente a la L2. Precisamente, las SSFF pueden considerarse «bigwords» (palabras máscomplejas) (Thornbury, 2019, p.15), por lo que su enseñanza no debería diferir considerablemente de aquella para palabras aisladas. Los principios para la enseñanza eficiente de vocabulario de Nation (2001) y los aportes de Lindstromberg y Boers (2008) promueven el hecho de que se focalice la atención de los estudiantes de ILE en las SSFF identificadas en los textos trabajados, seles brinde práctica guiada y sostenida, y se les ofrezcan oportunidades para practicar dichas SSFF en contextos significativos.
La finalidad de esta presentación es presentar a la audiencia los principios teóricos básicos que subyacen la enseñanza de un grupo de SSFF extraídas de una leyenda para niños. Posteriormente, se expondrán los criterios de selección y verificación de la frecuencia dedichas SSFF, junto con una descripción del proceso de adaptación del material al nivel de los estudiantes y de diseño de actividades. Finalmente, se compartirán algunas recomendaciones prácticas para la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de SSFF. Los datos se procesaron teniendo en cuenta el inventario propuesto por Beckman y Hirshberg (1994), Beckman y Ayers (1993), Ladd (1996) y un curso en línea del MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) para el sistema de transcripción ToBI (Tone and Break Indeces) utilizando el software PRAAT (Boersma y Weenink 2010). Con el fin de indicar conclusión, las dos variantes del inglés optaron en su mayoría por la configuración H* L% y L* L%. Para suspender la evaluación de un enunciado, los hablantes de inglés como L1 produjeron mayormente las configuraciones L+H* L-H% y L+H* !H%, mientras que en inglés como L2 la configuración más frecuente fue L+H* H%. Asimismo, se observaron diferencias en los tonos ascendentes en relación a la altura tonal y se obtuvo evidencia de la influencia de la lengua materna -español de la Patagonia- en el grupo de inglés como L2. Finalmente, se describen posibles implicancias metodológicas para la enseñanza de la entonación del inglés como L2.

Esta ponencia aborda la enseñanza de la pronunciación desde el marco del inglés como lengua franca, destacando la necesidad de superar modelos centrados en hablantes nativos. Revisa propuestas teóricas relevantes, especialmente el "Lingua Franca Core" (Jenkins, 1998, 2000, 2002), que identifica rasgos fonológicos imprescindibles para garantizar la inteligibilidad internacional. Presenta tanto aspectos segmentales (consonantes, vocales, aspiración, grupos consonánticos) como suprasegmentales (acentuación nuclear, tonicalidad) que inciden en la comunicación efectiva entre hablantes no nativos. Asimismo, propone actividades didácticas para el aula orientadas a la toma de conciencia, la práctica de la inteligibilidad y la adaptación de materiales existentes. Finalmente, concluye que la pronunciación constituye un componente esencial para reducir esfuerzos de procesamiento, mejorar la producción y favorecer la comprensión mutua en contextos internacionales.

This work aims at exploring possible causes for ESI English IV students’ listening comprehension feeling of failure when exposed to the foreign language. With this in mind, we have administered a survey to thirty seven advanced students in an attempt to gain a broader understanding of their own perceptions in connection with possible instances of comprehension failure when listening. Basically, results have helped us identify 5 main areas of trouble whose range goes from the impossibility of distinguishing among the sounds of the foreign language to the incapability of thinking ahead or predicting. An array of listening strategies has been proposed in an effort to start devising a probable way to enhance these students’ listening performance. In an outgrowth of this study to be developed in the near future that has been conceived in compensation for some weaknesses of the present preliminary study, we have planned to conduct interviews with 10 subjects of our research population and design an experiment to work with listening strategies in<br />more depth.

En la corriente británica y estadounidense de estudios de diversas variedades del inglés, la lingüística de corpus (LC) ha acumulado numerosos volúmenes tales como Sinclair (1991), O’Keefe & McCarthy (2010) o McEnery & Hardie (2012), por mencionar sólo algunos, que les han permitido a los estudiosos del campo de la lingüística, investigar, de la mano de la informatización y el desarrollo de las ciencias de la computación, diferentes aspectos del lenguaje en uso en clave empírica. Introducción a la lingüística de corpus en español del reconocido lingüista Guillermo Rojo (GR de aquí en más) viene a cubrir la necesidad de contar con un número mayor de manuales introductorios que discutan temas transversales de la LC en la tradición hispanoparlante. Sin embargo, aquello que resulta novedoso desde un punto de vista de vacancia en la literatura de LC en español podría resultar limitado para expertos en la materia especializados en otras lenguas, debido a que esta obra se centra en el español.

In an increasingly competitive context, SMEs in the oil & gas sector require analytical tools that integrate data and inform decisions; this study aimed to design and implement a KPI dashboard in Power BI to manage the procurement process of a Neuquén-based SME. A quantitative approach with qualitative support was applied: integration of 100% of historical data from the Finnegans GO ERP, stage-by-stage time modeling, interactive visualizations, and triangulation with interviews and a survey of internal clients. Based on 556 records, the average cycle time was 24.21 days and the main bottleneck was located between the signing of the Purchase Order (Nota de Pedido, NP) and the linking of the invoice (13.62 days), in a scenario of low request anticipation (53% with 0–3 days). We conclude that the dashboard provides actionable information to standardize approvals and reminders, establish minimum anticipation policies, manage suppliers by performance, and implement alerts and SLAs. Limitations include the single-case design and potential heterogeneity in ERP data-entry quality. Future lines include pre–post intervention evaluation, predictive analytics, and process mining.

Durante el año 2025, la Cátedra de Inglés de la Facultad de Economía, a cargo de la profesora María Belén Martínez del Departamento de Idiomas con Propósitos Específicos, desarrolló un trabajo basado en proyectos. A lo largo del cursado, los estudiantes llevaron adelante proyectos de investigación–servicio en los que articularon sus saberes de inglés con los contenidos propios de sus carreras y con la resolución de problemáticas reales de la comunidad. El proceso incluyó la lectura y el análisis de textos académicos en inglés para la elaboración del marco teórico, la selección de un problema relevante, el diseño e implementación de una metodología de investigación, y la comparación de resultados con los aportes de autores especializados. Cada proyecto culminó con la redacción de un informe final en formato de paper, presentado en español e inglés, siguiendo una plantilla estandarizada.
