A summary of the resource.
<em>IPAgraphy</em> is a practice booklet designed to help you improve your phonetic transcription. By focusing on how each IPA symbol is written, you will develop greater accuracy and confidence when representing English sounds. Step by step, you will learn to notice details, avoid common mistakes, and build clear, consistent transcriptions.<br />This booklet was developed by the Diction team of <em>Introducción a la Lengua Inglesa</em> for students in the English Teacher Training and Translation programmes at Facultad de Lenguas, Universidad Nacional del Comahue.
<span>Este cuadernillo fue elaborado por el equipo de cátedra de la materia <em>Introducción a la Lengua Inglesa</em> de la Facultad de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue. Se centra en el uso del Alfabeto Fonético Internacional (IPA). El término “IPAgraphy” fue creado específicamente para este material y significa “caligrafía de los símbolos fonéticos del IPA”. El objetivo del booklet es ayudar a los estudiantes a familiarizarse con una transcripción clara y precisa de los símbolos fonéticos. </span>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">El proyecto </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">La lengua vulnerada. Interculturalidad y lingüística en las aulas del sur de Río Negro </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">tuvo por objetivo ofrecer a los docentes de la Región Sur de Río Negro herramientas teórico-metodológicas y didácticas para el fortalecimiento de sus prácticas en contextos de interculturalidad, contacto lingüístico, bilingüismo y vulneración de lenguas y variedades. En este sentido, se propusieron dos instancias de formación (un curso de formación permanente y una jornada de reflexión y debate) cuya finalidad fue que las/los docentes participantes tomen conciencia de la complejidad del panorama lingüístico de la región y, a partir de allí, puedan diseñar estrategias, materiales y recursos didácticos para el trabajo en las aulas, así como también proyectos institucionales de mediano y largo plazo desde las escuelas con impacto en las comunidades.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">En el presente documento se expone el desarrollo integral del Proyecto de extensión. Concretamente, se informa el grado de consecución de los objetivos específicos propuestos, las dificultades que debieron ser sorteadas y las temáticas que, a nuestro criterio, deberían retomarse en futuras actividades de extensión y vinculación con la comunidad educativa de la región. </span></p>

Biografía
<span>José Silva Garcés es profesor en Letras (2012) y magíster en Lingüística (2019) por la Universidad Nacional del Comahue y doctor en Humanidades —mención Letras— (2023) por la Universidad Nacional del Litoral. Actualmente, es becario posdoctoral de CONICET y profesor adjunto de Gramática española en la Facultad de Humanidades (UNComa). Desde 2016 participa de proyectos de investigación y de extensión relacionados con la variación lingüística. Su campo de investigación es el estudio del español patagónico desde una perspectiva formal.<br /><br /><strong>Contacto:</strong> sg_jose@yahoo.com.ar </span>

Primer lugar en la ponderación de proyectos postdoctorales Fondecyt 2025 en el Grupo de LINGÜÍSTICA, LITERATURA Y FILOLOGÍA. José Silva Garcés es profesor en Letras (2012) y magíster en Lingüística (2019) por la Universidad Nacional del Comahue y doctor en Humanidades —mención Letras— (2023) por la Universidad Nacional del Litoral. Actualmente, es becario posdoctoral de CONICET y profesor adjunto de Gramática española en la Facultad de Humanidades (UNComa). Desde 2016 participa de proyectos de investigación y de extensión relacionados con la variación lingüística. Su campo de investigación es el estudio del español patagónico desde una perspectiva formal.

Este libro surge como resultado del trabajo colectivo realizado entre docentes y estudiantes de la tercera Cohorte de la Diplomatura de Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Segunda y Extranjera (DIPLELSE), dictada durante los años 2024 y 2025 en la Facultad de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Patagonia, Argentina. El manual abarca temas del nivel inicial A1, pensados de manera situada y contextualizada para un grupo intercultural de jóvenes adultos de entre 18 y 40 años que estén de intercambio o de viaje en la Patagonia argentina.
La premisa que motivó su creación fue la escasez de materiales didácticos situados para la enseñanza de ELSE en Argentina, en general, y en la región patagónica, en particular. Creemos que es fundamental para el crecimiento del área de ELSE en Argentina que las universidades nacionales que brindamos estas formaciones comencemos a producir y, sobre todo, compartir materiales situados que reflejen nuestra diversidad y culturas regionales.
Este material no pretende ser perfecto ni acabado. Es el resultado del dedicado trabajo de estudiantes de ELSE en formación, que generosamente se animaron a compartir sus unidades didácticas con el mundo. Esperamos que estas resulten un aporte para todos aquellos docentes que se dedican a la enseñanza del español en Argentina, así como para quienes desean aprender nuestra lengua y nuestra cultura.
El manual se compone de cinco unidades didácticas que abordan temas iniciales como la presentación, las rutinas, las relaciones sociales, la comida y el transporte. En cada una de ellas está presente la premisa del enfoque comunicativo, que busca que el estudiante tenga un rol activo en su aprendizaje y desarrolle competencias comunicativas a partir de actividades reales del mundo que lo rodea. Este libro surge como resultado del trabajo colectivo realizado entre docentes y estudiantes de la tercera Cohorte de la Diplomatura de Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Segunda y Extranjera (DIPLELSE), dictada durante los años 2024 y 2025 en la Facultad de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Patagonia, Argentina. El manual abarca temas del nivel inicial A1, pensados de manera situada y contextualizada para un grupo intercultural de jóvenes adultos de entre 18 y 40 años que estén de intercambio o de viaje en la Patagonia argentina.
La premisa que motivó su creación fue la escasez de materiales didácticos situados para la enseñanza de ELSE en Argentina, en general, y en la región patagónica, en particular. Creemos que es fundamental para el crecimiento del área de ELSE en Argentina que las universidades nacionales que brindamos estas formaciones comencemos a producir y, sobre todo, compartir materiales situados que reflejen nuestra diversidad y culturas regionales.
Este material no pretende ser perfecto ni acabado. Es el resultado del dedicado trabajo de estudiantes de ELSE en formación, que generosamente se animaron a compartir sus unidades didácticas con el mundo. Esperamos que estas resulten un aporte para todos aquellos docentes que se dedican a la enseñanza del español en Argentina, así como para quienes desean aprender nuestra lengua y nuestra cultura.
El manual se compone de cinco unidades didácticas que abordan temas iniciales como la presentación, las rutinas, las relaciones sociales, la comida y el transporte. En cada una de ellas está presente la premisa del enfoque comunicativo, que busca que el estudiante tenga un rol activo en su aprendizaje y desarrolle competencias comunicativas a partir de actividades reales del mundo que lo rodea. Por este motivo, cada unidad cuenta con una salida final, en la que los estudiantes deben poner en práctica lo aprendido fuera del aula. A su vez, el libro va acompañado de un segundo manual que contiene la “guía del docente”, donde se presentan los objetivos, contenidos y procedimientos para llevar a cabo cada actividad.

Durante el año 2025, la Cátedra de Inglés de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Geológicas (Facultad de Ingeniería), a cargo de la profesora María Belén Martínez del Departamento de Idiomas con Propósitos Específicos, desarrolló un trabajo basado en proyectos. These changes, linked to the sedimentary materials that compose the terrain, increase erosion and hinder vegetation recovery. The preservation of fossil heritage constitutes an interdisciplinary challenge that involves geology, education, and the public communication of science. On the campus of the National University of Comahue, where fossils are exposed to the everyday environment, gaps in knowledge and limited dissemination regarding their value and legal protection are observed. In response to this issue, the present study aimed to evaluate the level of awareness and knowledge about fossils among different sectors of the community —university campus users, runners, and high school students— as well as to analyze the impact of an educational intervention on the social perception of fossil heritage.
The research was carried out under a mixed approach, through the application of surveys, interviews, and informative talks. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were examined through thematic coding. The results indicate that, although adults and university students possess a general awareness of the importance of fossils, their involvement and normative knowledge are limited. In contrast, high school students showed a significant increase in their knowledge and appreciation after participating in a guided educational instance.
Overall, the findings confirm the decisive role of geoscience education as a tool to strengthen social awareness and promote the preservation of fossil heritage. It is recommended to systematically incorporate heritage content into school, university, and community programs in order to foster an informed citizenship committed to its natural and cultural environment.

The city of Neuquén is undergoing significant urban growth, which drives the demand for aggregates such as sand, gravel, and crushed stone, mainly used in construction. This demand leads to an intensification of extractive activities in both riverbank and terrestrial quarries, whose exploitation can cause significant impacts on the geological environment, such as erosion, ground instability, and alteration of overlying and underlying sedimentary systems. The present project aims to analyze these impacts from a geological perspective and to assess the degree of involvement of professional geologists in the planning, control, and monitoring of such activities, within the framework of the principles of responsible production and consumption established by SDG 12.
La ciudad de Neuquén está experimentando un crecimiento urbano importante que impulsa la demanda de áridos, como arena, grava y ripio, utilizados principalmente en la construcción. Esta necesidad genera una intensificación de la actividad extractiva en canteras tanto ribereñas como terrestres, cuya explotación puede provocar impactos significativos sobre el entorno geológico, como la erosión, inestabilidad del terreno y alteración de sistemas sedimentarios suprayacentes e infrayacentes. El presente proyecto busca analizar estos impactos desde una perspectiva geológica y evaluar el grado de intervención de profesionales geólogos en la planificación, control y monitoreo de dichas actividades, en el marco de los principios de producción y consumo responsables establecidos por el ODS 12.

A summary of the resource.
Soil degradation due to salinity and sodicity represents a global issue that limits agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. In this context, organic amendments such as compost offer a sustainable alternative for the restoration of halomorphic soils. This study was conducted on the university campus of the National University of Comahue, where the effect of organic compost on soil physical and chemical properties and plant growth was evaluated. An amendment composed of black soil, organic waste, and earthworms was prepared, and three treatments with different compost and halomorphic soil proportions were applied over two weeks, recording soil and plant variables every four days. The results showed that increasing compost proportions reduced salinity, improved soil structure and moisture retention, and promoted more vigorous plant growth. It is concluded that compost represents an effective tool for improving soil quality, promoting sustainable management practices, and reusing institutional organic waste, contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 and strengthening environmental education within the university environment.

The research analyzes the relationship between the lack of urban planning and slope instability in the bardas of Neuquén, with the aim of identifying risk zones and assessing the social perception of danger. A mixed-method approach was applied, combining geospatial analysis in QGIS with surveys of local residents. The hazard and vulnerability maps revealed that the neighborhoods of Villa Ceferino, Melipal, and Islas Malvinas show a critical overlap between high geomorphological susceptibility and high social exposure. Despite this, 82% of respondents do not perceive their homes to be at risk, and 64% are unaware of the concept of mitigation, evidencing a significant gap between physical risk and social perception. The results highlight the need to incorporate geological and geomorphological criteria into urban planning and to implement education and monitoring campaigns that strengthen community-based risk management. It is concluded that the integration of technical tools and citizen participation is essential to move toward safer, more resilient, and sustainable urban development.

This paper addresses the awareness of geothermal energy within the university community of the University of Comahue (Universidad Nacional del Comahue, UNCo), within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. The study combined a quantitative-descriptive and educational-participatory approach through surveys conducted before and after a scientific outreach campaign that included printed brochures and digital infographics. The results showed a significant increase in the level of knowledge and an improvement in the perception of geothermal energy as a clean and safe source, along with a reduction in misconceptions about its environmental impacts. Likewise, a greater willingness to change opinions after receiving reliable information was observed, confirming the effectiveness of the implemented communication strategies. Overall, the findings demonstrate that scientific education within the academic environment is a key tool to promote social acceptance of renewable energies and strengthen the transition toward a sustainable energy model.

The city of Neuquén is undergoing significant urban growth, which drives the demand for aggregates such as sand, gravel, and crushed stone, mainly used in construction. This demand leads to an intensification of extractive activities in both riverbank and terrestrial quarries, whose exploitation can cause significant impacts on the geological environment, such as erosion, ground instability, and alteration of overlying and underlying sedimentary systems. The present project aims to analyze these impacts from a geological perspective and to assess the degree of involvement of professional geologists in the planning, control, and monitoring of such activities, within the framework of the principles of responsible production and consumption established by SDG 12.
La ciudad de Neuquén está experimentando un crecimiento urbano importante que impulsa la demanda de áridos, como arena, grava y ripio, utilizados principalmente en la construcción. Esta necesidad genera una intensificación de la actividad extractiva en canteras tanto ribereñas como terrestres, cuya explotación puede provocar impactos significativos sobre el entorno geológico, como la erosión, inestabilidad del terreno y alteración de sistemas sedimentarios suprayacentes e infrayacentes. El presente proyecto busca analizar estos impactos desde una perspectiva geológica y evaluar el grado de intervención de profesionales geólogos en la planificación, control y monitoreo de dichas actividades, en el marco de los principios de producción y consumo responsables establecidos por el ODS 12.

This paper analyzes the potential of Grindelia chiloensis, a native species of arid environments, which was studied as a tool for mitigating erosion and desertification in degraded soils. The research was conducted in a sector of Parque Norte (Neuquén) with characteristics similar to those of areas affected by small-scale fires. Soil samples were collected, physicochemical parameters (pH, moisture, electrical conductivity, N, P, and K) were measured, and a germination test was performed under controlled conditions. The results show that the soil, despite its loss of vegetation cover, maintains adequate levels of fertility and stability. Germination reached 50%, confirming the adaptation of the species G. chiloensis to clay soils. The findings suggest that revegetation with native species represents an effective strategy to restore degraded soils and reduce erosion in arid and semi-arid environments.

The preservation of fossil heritage constitutes an interdisciplinary challenge that involves geology, education, and the public communication of science. On the campus of the National University of Comahue, where fossils are exposed to the everyday environment, gaps in knowledge and limited dissemination regarding their value and legal protection are observed. In response to this issue, the present study aimed to evaluate the level of awareness and knowledge about fossils among different sectors of the community —university campus users, runners, and high school students— as well as to analyze the impact of an educational intervention on the social perception of fossil heritage.
The research was carried out under a mixed approach, through the application of surveys, interviews, and informative talks. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were examined through thematic coding. The results indicate that, although adults and university students possess a general awareness of the importance of fossils, their involvement and normative knowledge are limited. In contrast, high school students showed a significant increase in their knowledge and appreciation after participating in a guided educational instance.
Overall, the findings confirm the decisive role of geoscience education as a tool to strengthen social awareness and promote the preservation of fossil heritage. It is recommended to systematically incorporate heritage content into school, university, and community programs in order to foster an informed citizenship committed to its natural and cultural environment.

The preservation of fossil heritage constitutes an interdisciplinary challenge that involves geology, education, and the public communication of science. On the campus of the National University of Comahue, where fossils are exposed to the everyday environment, gaps in knowledge and limited dissemination regarding their value and legal protection are observed. In response to this issue, the present study aimed to evaluate the level of awareness and knowledge about fossils among different sectors of the community —university campus users, runners, and high school students— as well as to analyze the impact of an educational intervention on the social perception of fossil heritage.

Durante el año 2025, la Cátedra de Inglés de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Geológicas (Facultad de Ingeniería), a cargo de la profesora María Belén Martínez del Departamento de Idiomas con Propósitos Específicos, desarrolló un trabajo basado en proyectos. A lo largo del cursado, los estudiantes llevaron adelante proyectos de investigación–servicio en los que articularon sus saberes de inglés con los contenidos propios de sus carreras y con la resolución de problemáticas reales de la comunidad. El proceso incluyó la lectura y el análisis de textos académicos en inglés para la elaboración del marco teórico, la selección de un problema relevante, el diseño e implementación de una metodología de investigación, y la comparación de resultados con los aportes de autores especializados. Cada proyecto culminó con la redacción de un informe final en formato de paper, presentado en español e inglés, siguiendo una plantilla estandarizada.
