Abstract
A summary of the resource.

Abstract
Reading research articles (RA) in English is an activity of the utmost importance in university life. However, this genre poses numerous difficulties for university students, mainly due to the fact that they are texts produced by specialists and aimed at specialists to communicate research results on specialty topics. Now, of all the sections that make up the RA, the introduction has received special attention in the studies carried out within the framework of genre analysis, particularly within the line of English for Specific Purposes. Swales, (1990, 2004) proposed a model called CARS (Create A Research Space) for the analysis of the RA macrostructure, in particular of the introductory section. Although this model effectively explains the rhetorical organization of the introduction of RAs, several investigations have determined the presence of interdisciplinary variations. Due to the fact that, so far, no studies of this type are known in the discipline of Tourism, the objective of this work will be to survey the macrostructure of the introductions of a corpus of RAs of this discipline following the CARS model (2004). It is expected that the results of this study, in addition to contributing to the existing knowledge about the macrostructure of RA introductions in different disciplines, can provide data that enrich pedagogical practices in university courses of English for academic purposes, especially in tourism-related careers.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.

Due to their importance for effective learning, the aim of this study was to explore the metacognitive strategies employed by ESP (English for Specific Purposes) students in a university context. A quantitative study was carried out with English I students of Foreign Trade, Business Administration and Biotechnology at Universidad Nacional de Río Negro, Argentina during 2019. The participants were administered a questionnaire based on Oxford‟s (1990) SILL (Strategy Inventory for Language Learning) and another instrument developed by Franco et al. (2012). The questionnaire also included questions about the students‟ extra-curricular activities regarding the foreign language. In order to ensure data triangulation, guided interviews were conducted with a sub-group of the sample. The results of this study showed that, in general, metacognitive strategies are not very frequently used and there exist differences in use among the three courses of study in this context, which might be the result of a lack of motivation in some cases. Furthermore, the interviews revealed interesting information about the students‟ learning goals and a possible link between those goals and the extra-curricular activities concerning the foreign language that these learners engage in. The findings also provided useful data to implement future action plans that can contribute to the development of this type of strategies in the pedagogical practices with ESP students within this particular university context.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.

The challenges of designing a textual corpus to develop translation students’ academic literacy
Abstract
A summary of the resource.

Abstract
This work discusses the progress of Research Project J031, Alfabetización Académica y Tipologías Textuales en la Enseñanza del Inglés para la Traducción (2018-2021), whose aims are the compilation of an English-language authentic-text corpus for the design of didactic materials to advance translation students’ academic competences in English. The theoretical-methodological framework of this work, like that of the Project J031, is anchored in Academic Literacy (AL) studies (largely Bazerman’s Writing Across the Curriculum movement), Genre Theory, and the conception of teaching English in translator training as English for Specific Purposes.
A discussion of the findings so far accounts for the benefits of the elaboration of a corpus of authentic texts for the development of learners’ AL and translation competence; and presents two elements for the analysis of the corpus: a classification tool and a taxonomy for text annotation. As preliminary conclusions, it is hoped this work contributes to the enhancement of students’ translation strategies and to the strengthening of links between theory, practice and research in AL and translator training.
