<p text="" align="justify">Con el propósito evaluar el estado de situación de los Estudios de Traducción (ET) en Argentina, en este artículo hacemos referencia a una serie de eventos que constituyen indicadores positivos de su presente y de sus avances en las últimas dos décadas: la celebración de reuniones científicas, la creación de centros de investigación y la incorporación de asignaturas de teoría en la formación de grado. Los datos que presentamos en esta publicación provienen del Proyecto de investigación La formación en traducción e interpretación en Argentina (04/J025) y de las investigaciones que se realizan en el marco del Centro de Estudios en Traducción, en la Universidad Nacional del Comahue. Al momento de reflexionar acerca de las perspectivas de futuro de la investigación sobre traducción, concluimos que es necesario fortalecer y ampliar la oferta de postgrado y las oportunidades de publicación de investigaciones, a fin de lograr la consolidación de la institucionalización de los ET en el país.</p>
ABSTRACT.
The organization of scientific meetings, the creation of research centres and the inclusion of theory to the undergraduate translation training programs are evidence of the state of the art of Translation Studies (TS) and its progress in the last two decades in Argentina. However, in order to consolidate its institutional academic status, more TS journals and publications, and a greater number or research-oriented graduate programs are needed. Data presented in this article was collected in the research project «Translator and Interpreter Training in Argentina» (04/J025) and at the Centre for Translation Studies, at the National University of Comahue.

<p>En este artículo describimos las principales características de las carreras de traducción, del nivel de grado, que ofrecen las universidades públicas argentinas. Presentamos, en primer lugar, un panorama general de la formación de traductores e intérpretes en el sistema universitario argentino. Luego de hacer una breve referencia a la situación actual de la profesión y de los Estudios de Traducción, describimos la traducción como un proceso cognitivo, ejecutivo y social adquirible. A partir de estos conceptos, identificamos en los planes de estudios los distintos componentes ligados al desarrollo de las habilidades y conocimientos necesarios para poder llevar adelante este proceso complejo (de traducción), y que los estudiantes deberán adquirir durante su formación. Los resultados que surgen de este análisis ponen en evidencia las fortalezas, aunque también las ausencias, en la formación de traductores de Argentina.<br /><br />Abstract<br /><br />This article outlines the main characteristics of undergraduate translator training programmes offered by public universities in Argentina. Firstly, a general overview of translator and interpreter training in the Argentinian university system is presented. After making a brief reference to the current situation of translation profession and Translation Studies, translation is defined as a cognitive, executive and social process that can be acquired. Taking these concepts into account, the skills and knowledge needed to carry out this complex (translation) process are identified in the different components of translator training programmes. The analysis evidences the strengths, but also the weaknesses, in translator training in Argentina.</p>
