This paper analyses the prosodic characteristics of spontaneous speech as conditioned by the type of discourse practice. Speech is compared in two different types of discour-se by the same speaker, a conference and an interview, both related to popular science presentations on the same topic. Prosody is analysed at the prosody-pragmatics interface: nuclear tone configurations and phrasing in relation to their pragmatic meaning. In this line, intonation is studied in terms of the coding and processing of foreground and back-ground information. Results show that there are differences in relation to phrasing and the frequency of occurrence of certain tonal configurations. These differences are explai-ned taking into account the specific contextual characteristics of each discourse practice. Specifically, the degree of accessibility and the possibility of communicative repairs are considered. The findings pave the way for further research into other communicative si-tuations with different speakers and different modes of discourse organisation.</p></text>

The study is grounded in the Conservation of Resources and Self-Determination theories, which posit that the availability of psychological and organizational resources directly affects employees' willingness to remain in their jobs. Using a mixed-methods design combining surveys and participant observation, the perceptions of 35 employees from three local SMEs were explored. The findings indicate that flexibility practices and empathetic leadership foster work-life balance and strengthen organizational commitment. This study contributes to the literature on human resource management in SMEs and offers practical guidelines for promoting sustainable work environments in local contexts. Furthermore, it confirms that even simple interventions, such as flexible arrival times or active breaks, can have significant effects on employees' intention to stay, reinforcing the value of symbolic and accessible strategies.</text>

En sus propias palabras, “a sort of new era […] where translation is viewed as fundamentally transdisciplinary, mobile, and open ended” (p. 8).</text>

<text>The aim of this paper is to address the last music album released by Joy Harjo, author and artist of the Muscogee nation, in order to discuss the way in which the different elements of pop-rock and native music come together. This will lead us to approach, as well, the cultural identity that the album constructs not only regarding the fusion of music styles but also with respect to the subject’s experience narrated in the lyrics. Our analysis will take us to enquire into how the author uses a series of languages (the Muscogee language, the English language, the language of music in the use of Muscogee instruments and pop-rock) to transmit an ethno-national identity that, we argue, is the result of a transculturation process. Last, music and narration sing together to create a site of memory in which images and sounds that represent the past, present and, perhaps, future direction of the Muscogee nation are (re)created.</text>

In this paper, we report on an exploratory study into the recurrence of formulaic sequences in unabridged versions of myths and legends from different parts of the world in English. We describe the steps taken to build up a small corpus of FSs typical of these narrative text types. <text>Fictional narrative texts such as short stories, novels, fables, legends and myths share certain grammatical, lexical and stylistic features that make them unique. For this reason, it is of prime importance that students of English as a foreign language deal with this specificity in the classroom especially by exploring how ideas are developed and how meaning is conveyed through the use of specific vocabulary in these text types.
New perspectives on vocabulary learning and teaching have led linguists, such as Sinclair (1991), Lewis (1993, 1997 & 2000), Hoey (2005), Meunier & Granger (2008) and Schmitt (2010), among others, to redefine the Lexicon by claiming that this inventory is not only made up of morphemes and words but also formulaic sequences. Precisely, a single instance of this recurrent language phenomenon is defined as, “a sequence continuous or discontinuous, of words” [...] “which is, or appears to be prefabricated: that is, stored and retrieved whole from memory at the time of use, rather than being subject to generation or analysis by the language grammar" (Wray 2002: 9).
In this exploratory study, we set out to investigate the recurrence of FSs in unabridged versions of myths and legends from different parts of the world in English. We report on a number of steps that were followed in order to build a small corpus of FSs which are inherent in these narrative text types. A subsequent selection of those strings of words which are both frequently used and pedagogically relevant for ESL primary school students from this corpus will lead to the design of teaching material for this group of young learners. </text>
