<p><em>INTRODUCCIÓN</em><br /><span style="text-align: justify;">El principal objetivo de este trabajo es reflexionar sobre la importancia del conocimiento de la gramática de la lengua extranjera, en este caso del español, por parte de los docentes, y señalar la manera en la que dicho conocimiento formal beneficia su enseñanza. La reflexión sobre diferentes aspectos de la gramática, a la luz de discusiones teóricas actuales, permite analizar, reconocer y evaluar posibles dificultades, y brinda un vínculo entre la lingüística teórica y su aplicación a la enseñanza.</span></p>
<p><span style="text-align: justify;">De ninguna manera este trabajo pretende brindar una guía sobre los métodos o técnicas de enseñanza de segundas lenguas más efectivos. Por el contrario, se busca mostrar que en la elección de estos, el conocimiento declarativo de las propiedades formales de la lengua es fundamental y es el punto de partida para optimizar cualquier método de enseñanza. Aquí, particularmente, nos centramos en diferentes cuestiones vinculadas con el hecho de que el español es una lengua que permite sujetos nulos. A partir de la discusión de este fenómeno, mostramos que, independientemente de la postura adoptada sobre la adquisición de segundas lenguas, el conocimiento formal y la reflexión metalingüística por parte del docente de ELE es central para proponer explicaciones efectivas y seleccionar ejercitación adecuada.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">La presentación se organiza de la siguiente manera: En la primera sección, revisamos algunas propuestas sobre el rol del conocimiento de la lengua meta en la enseñanza. En la segunda sección, nos detenemos en las características del español como lengua de sujetos nulos y las implicancias de esta propiedad en la enseñanza de ELE. Finalmente, en la tercera sección, presentamos las consideraciones finales.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Este trabajo tiene como fin presentar el Proyecto de Investigación PIN1J031, Alfabetización Académica y Tipologías Textuales en la Enseñanza del Inglés para la Traducción(2018-2021)de la Facultad de Lenguas(FadeL), Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCo)dadala necesidad de realizar investigaciones situadas en el contexto de la formación de traductores. Proyectos de investigación anteriores denuestra universidad, al igual que deotras universidades en Argentina y Latinoamérica, ponen de manifiestola importanciade fortalecer la competencia académica en los estudiantes, incluso en años avanzados de las diferentes carreras(Massi &Liendo, 2016; Liendo &Massi, 2017).Esta competencia refiere a modos de escribir característicos de los diversos ámbitos académicos y profesionales, y se desarrollaa través de acciones de formación que atienden a las especificidades de cada disciplina (Carlino, 2013; Navarro, 2012; Parodi, 2010). En el contexto de nuestra facultad, que ofrece las carreras de grado de profesor y traductor públicode inglés, es aún más imperiosofortalecer la alfabetización académica en el uso del inglés como lengua extranjera, debido al doble proceso de adaptación a lacultura de la lengua meta y ala comunidad académica a la que se buscapertenecer. Para los traductores en particular, si se considera su rol de mediadores entre lenguas y culturas, se presentan otrosdesafíos. Uno de los principalesseráenmarcar los distintos textos de origen (TO) de sus traducciones dentro de la comunidad que los utiliza y acorde a las funciones que cumplen en ella, para luego producir un texto meta (TM) que cumpla con los mismos requisitos en la cultura de destino. Por tales motivos, elproyecto propone elaborar un corpus de textos académicos en inglésutilizados para la enseñanza de la lengua inglesa y la traducciónen el Traductorado de FadeL, ydiseñar, a partir de dicho corpus, materiales didácticos y lineamientos pedagógicosque alienten y favorezcan su aplicación<br /><br /><br />Trabajo sobre el avance de las investigaciones en el marco del <a href="http://bibliotecadelenguas.uncoma.edu.ar/items/show/332" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proyecto J031</a>: Alfabetización académica y tipologías textuales en la enseñanza del inglés para la traducción (2018-2021).<br /><br />Presentado en el V Congreso Nacional Un Espacio de Encuentro. Proyectos de investigación anteriores denuestra universidad, al igual que deotras universidades en Argentina y Latinoamérica, ponen de manifiestola importanciade fortalecer la competencia académica en los estudiantes, incluso en años avanzados de las diferentes carreras(Massi &Liendo, 2016; Liendo &Massi, 2017).Esta competencia refiere a modos de escribir característicos de los diversos ámbitos académicos y profesionales, y se desarrollaa través de acciones de formación que atienden a las especificidades de cada disciplina (Carlino, 2013; Navarro, 2012; Parodi, 2010). En el contexto de nuestra facultad, que ofrece las carreras de grado de profesor y traductor públicode inglés, es aún más imperiosofortalecer la alfabetización académica en el uso del inglés como lengua extranjera, debido al doble proceso de adaptación a lacultura de la lengua meta y ala comunidad académica a la que se buscapertenecer. Para los traductores en particular, si se considera su rol de mediadores entre lenguas y culturas, se presentan otrosdesafíos. Uno de los principalesseráenmarcar los distintos textos de origen (TO) de sus traducciones dentro de la comunidad que los utiliza y acorde a las funciones que cumplen en ella, para luego producir un texto meta (TM) que cumpla con los mismos requisitos en la cultura de destino. Por tales motivos, elproyecto propone elaborar un corpus de textos académicos en inglésutilizados para la enseñanza de la lengua inglesa y la traducciónen el Traductorado de FadeL, ydiseñar, a partir de dicho corpus, materiales didácticos y lineamientos pedagógicosque alienten y favorezcan su aplicación.</p>

<em>Introducción: </em><br /><br />En la literatura gramatical es frecuente hablar de relaciones de dependencia entre constituyentes. Muchas son estrictamente locales, por ejemplo, la relación entre un núcleo y su complemento en términos de subcategorización, asignación de roles temáticos o de Caso. Es decir, la localidad implica cercanía sintáctica, y, en general, refiere a la misma cláusula donde se originan los constituyentes. El Principio de Localidad está presente en los estudios de gramática desde hace mucho, sobre todo en relación con los límites del movimiento. En la actualidad, este concepto sigue vigente, especialmente en relación con el concepto de estructura argumental, proposición y fase (Chomsky 1998). Nuestra propuesta se enmarca dentro de la Lingüística Aplicada y resalta la importancia de la localidad en la gramática. Está destinada a docentes y especialmente a estudiantes de idiomas. Demostramos que hay cuestiones que son solo sintácticas, que dependen de la conformación de la estructura interna de la cláusula, que no es lineal, sino que responde a una estructura jerárquica. Este trabajo presenta una brevísima sección teórica (sección 2) sobre el concepto de localidad desde los comienzos de los estudios formales. Luego, discutimos algunos errores de interpretación y de producción por parte de estudiantes de inglés como lengua adicional (sección 3) y finalizamos con las conclusiones (sección 4).

En español encontramos construcciones del tipo Juan salió perjudicado consideradas como construcciones resultativas débiles (Washio, 1997) en oposición a las resultativas fuertes o complejas del inglés. En esta lengua, en cambio, se observan construcciones resultativas del tipo John hammeredthe metal flat que no presentan un equivalente directo en el español. Esto no significa que el español no cuente con formas de expresar resultatividad. En este trabajo nos proponemos contrastar algunas construcciones resultativas del inglés con las del español, en especial, aquellas en las que el verbo se encuentra desemantizado y es pseudo-copulativo (Morimoto, 2005, 2008). Las construcciones resultativas crean un estado nuevo que no existía antes de la consumación de la acción y que afecta a un argumento interno, es decir, en la construcción resultativa, el punto final del evento constituye el punto inicial de un estado que no existía antes. Ese nuevo estado puede estar representado morfológicamente por diversas categorías sintácticas aunque típicamente por participios o adjetivos. Según muestra el relevamiento de la bibliografía, las construcciones resultativas del inglés cuentan con estudios abarcativos e integradores, sin embargo, en español las mismas no han sido abordadas con exhaustividad. Por otro lado, la complejidad de esta estructura se ve reflejada en las producciones de los estudiantes de lenguas extranjeras que cometen errores al querer expresar resultatividad.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Debate about the acquisition of unaccusative verbs has centered on whether the structural properties of unaccusative verbs are known or if all intransitive verbs are treated as unergatives initially in different languages (Montrul 2005; Oshita 2001; Sorace 2000; Zobl 1989; among others). Within the Reasearch Project “Estructuras tempranas y tardías en Español como Lengua Materna” (J014) we have studied the acquisition of passive and unaccusative structures both in Spanish as an L1 and in English as an L2. The present study intends to show that L2 Spanish learners know the grammatical properties of unaccusative verbs and treat them as such. To this purpose in mind, an experiment of delayed repetition of a series of 11 pictures contained in a short story was carried out. The searcher told it to 5 adult students at Leiden University who have been learning Spanish for an average of 4 1/2 years (4 to 10 years). The results show that in all cases the subjects followed a constant pattern of response: they produced the expected verbs correctly and the difficulties evinced are of two types: lack of knowledge of the lexical item (verb) they had to use to describe the picture and the causativisation of some unaccusative verbs which are not compatible with this construction. These data seem to indicate that overall these learners know the structural properties of unaccusative verbs and the use of the clitic se with particular verbs – aparecer and nacer- is the syntactic reflex that shows the learners’ attempt to morphologically mark unaccusativity. Thus, to correct these errors, learners need more time to sharpen their knowledge of the specific idiosyncratic properties of certain verbs of different subclasses within the unaccusative class.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">En el año 2008 y debido a la demanda de cursos de español para extranjeros, un grupo de docentes de la Fadel empezamos a incursionar en la enseñanza de ELE. Así surgió el proyecto de extensión denominado “Programa de Español para Extranjeros”. (Res. CD N° 037/08). Desde entonces, comenzamos nuestra formación a través de estudios de posgrado, asistencia y participación en coloquios y congresos y asesoramiento a cargo de profesionales expertos en el área. Asimismo, fuimos adquiriendo experiencia a través de los alumnos del Programa. El Programa de Español para Extranjeros ofrece cursos en tres niveles: elemental, intermedio y avanzado. Al principio las clases se dictaban utilizando como material base libros de texto publicados en el país pero con el tiempo nos vimos en la necesidad de elaborar material propio, que incluyera aspectos de nuestra cultura y respondiera a los intereses específicos de nuestros alumnos. Empezamos entonces a diseñar actividades y usarlas en el aula. En el año 2011 recibimos una capacitación sobre diseño y elaboración de material didáctico así como también sobre aspectos gramaticales y funcionales de la lengua. Este trabajo presenta el producto final de dicha capacitación, un cuadernillo de actividades que corresponde al nivel elemental. Dicho material didáctico consta de una serie de actividades que esperamos sean de utilidad tanto para el docente como para el alumno de ELE. Las actividades que se incluyen apuntan a iniciar al alumno en el desarrollo de su competencia comunicativa en la lengua extranjera no sólo a través del desarrollo de las cuatro macro-destrezas de la lengua sino también por medio de contenidos propios de nuestra cultura. Actualmente nos encontramos diseñando el cuadernillo que corresponde al nivel intermedio del programa.</p>

<p><strong>Introduction</strong><br />The aim of this paper is to discuss the benefits of explicitly teaching senior EFL learners strings of words in order to raise their awareness of the pervasiveness of formulaic sequences in the foreign language (FL). First, the discussion of the theoretical framework is presented. The context for the study is then described in terms of its participants and the courses’ materials and methodology, after which follows an outline of the research design as regards de different data collection procedures and the analysis of the data. The results are presented for each of the instruments and a discussion ensues of the implications derived from the study.</p>

<strong>Introduction</strong><br />The aim of this paper is to discuss the benefits of explicitly teaching senior EFL learners strings of words in order to raise their awareness of the pervasiveness of formulaic sequences in the foreign language (FL). First, the discussion of the theoretical framework is presented. The context for the study is then described in terms of its participants and the courses’ materials and methodology, after which follows an outline of the research design as regards de different data collection procedures and the analysis of the data. The results are presented for each of the instruments and a discussion ensues of the implications derived from the study.

Las Secuencias Formulaicas (SFs), definidas por Wray (2002) como “una secuencia, continua o discontinua, de palabras o de otros elementos, que es, o parece ser, prefabricada, es decir, almacenada y recuperada como una unidad de la memoria en el momento de uso, en lugar de estar sujeta a generación o análisis de la gramática del lenguaje" (p. 9), son fundamentales para lograr fluidez e idiomaticidad en el discurso (Lewis 2009). Sin embargo, según autores como Li y Schmitt (2009), Peters y Pauwels (2015) y Wood (2010), muchos estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera (ILE) tienen dificultades con el empleo de estas SFs en su discurso, oral o escrito, o tienden a utilizar siempre las mismas (Granger 1998). Este estudio de caso se centra en el desarrollo de la competencia formulaica de un estudiante en particular en el transcurso de un año, al cursar la asignatura Lengua Inglesa III del Profesorado en Inglés (FADEL, Universidad Nacional del Comahue). Se realizó un análisis longitudinal del uso espontáneo de secuencias formulaícas rastreadas en todos los trabajos escritos de un estudiante universitario de nivel avanzado de ILE. Con el consentimiento expreso del alumno, la totalidad de sus trabajos prácticos fueron analizados utilizando <i>Wordsmith Tools 6.0</i> (Scott 2015) para determinar cuáles son las SFs de preferencia del alumno y cuáles, de las enseñadas en clase, comienza a emplear en su producción de manera espontánea en contextos de uso no obligatorios. A partir de este análisis, las SFs empleadas se categorizaron de acuerdo a nivel estilístico y complejidad de las secuencias determinados por número de palabras que las constituyen y opacidad/transparencia de su significado. A través de la caracterización de las secuencias empleadas longitudinalmente (Ab Mannan 2014a y 2014b) se brinda evidencia del crecimiento de la competencia formulaica en este caso en particular. De los datos obtenidos y del análisis cualitativo-descriptivo de las producciones se desprenden implicancias pedagógicas para la enseñanza de SFs en ILE en nivel avanzado.

Speech rhythm is understood as a byproduct of phonetic and phonological characteristics like syllabic structure, vowel reduction and the role of accent. In order to capture these properties, several rhythm metrics have been proposed in the literature so as to give an account of different aspects of rhythm. The aim of this study is to focus on the role of accent, as manifested in the prominences of an utterance, in the timing patterns of two typologically different rhythms represented by Spanish and English. Two rhythm metrics, %V and VarcoV, have been chosen in order to measure the production of a specially designed reading task by speakers from Patagonia, south of Argentina, as well as the southeast of England and the northeast of the United States. <em>Introduction:</em> <br />We have been inspired to write this work thanks to our experiences for one academic year as Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and Arkansas, USA; respectively granted by British Council- and Fulbright-Ministerio de Educación. Our duties as FLTAs consisted in helping in speaking and writing sessions, testing, teaching, designing materials, and being in charge of cultural activities related to food and dance in secondary schools and universities. Today’s globalized world has permeated education, and interculturality has recently been integrated in the English as a Foreign/Second Language classroom, broadening the language experience by including cultural aspects in a lesson. This is why we believe that understanding others is essential for communication and cooperation. As Sercu (2005) states, “foreign language education is, by definition, intercultural. Bringing a foreign language to the classroom means connecting learners to a world that is culturally different from their own” and promoting “the acquisition of intercultural competence in the learners” (Sercu 2005: 1). When teaching a foreign language, diverse forms of living and understanding the world get into the classroom by means of audiovisual materials, texts, talks, coursebooks and realia. Thanks to these sources, all members in the FL classroom can discover a foreign culture and contrast it with their own. The underlying aim is to work with and form pluricultural individuals, i.e. learners with the ability to recognize others and be aware of their own traditions and values. As it is not always essential to travel abroad to be pluriculturally competent, some practical ideas will be shown as a way of exemplifying lessons that are culturally focused and exploitable from a pluricultural point of view.
