ABSTRACT
The Generative framework argues that human beings are genetically endowed to acquire language. This capacity comes from a language faculty with linguistic specifications that shape the language acquisition process. According to this approach, the child does not attend school to learn his mother tongue since he has already acquired it and this language is as perfect and complex as any other human language in the world. In this sense, it is suggested that we move away from a traditional view on grammar teaching that only focuses school practices on activities such as rule memorisation or sentence analysis. This paper analyses the pedagogical implications that the Innatist programme has on the teaching of grammar in the language classroom. First, we reflect on the notions of grammaticality, correctness and adequacy and how these can materialise into activities that allow for the exploration of language through activities that involve the analysis, comparison and generalisation of linguistic phenomena. To achieve this aim, the activities proposed in two workshops for teachers, in Río Negro will be analysed. These show a possible way in which these central axes can be dealt with in grammar topics such as the use of the definite article with proper names and different agreement phenomena in the Spanish variety characteristic of people at Linea Sur in our province.</text>

ABSTRACT
Every scientific discipline has a set of terms and definitions to describe its object of study. These labels are fundamental both for the analysis and for the communication of results and the subsequent replication of a work methodology with other exponents of that object. The problem arises when the labels become confused with the object itself and begin to play a much more prominent role than the one desirable in Science, causing us to fall into the well-known statement that “the error is in the corpse, but not in Galen”. The following pages explore this problem in the field of linguistics. To that end, we dwell on the labels used for languages, for word classes and even on label for the word “word” itself.</text>

<p align="justify">Learning vocabulary is often a challenge for foreign lang uage learners, particularly in recognition and understanding of lexical collocations in academic discourse. The aim of this study is to analyze the comprehension of verb + noun collocations in academic texts in English by students at foreign language courses at Comahue University. A multiple choice test to recognize thirty six collocations was administered to sixty students, with three groups of twelve collocations, each showing neutral, positive or negative prosody. A semi-structured interview was also carried out and information obtained from a group of fifteen respondents chosen at random. A significant number of students had difficulties when recognizing collocations in context. However, in the interview the level of comprehension proved higher. There is no significant evidence of influence of type of prosody on collocation recognition.</p></text>

In this work, intonation is analysed as a phenomenon at the interface between intonational phonology and pragmatics. The pragmatic analysis is carried out in the framework of the Relevance Theory (Sperber &amp; Wilson 1995, 2004) and its application to the study of prosodic aspects (Wilson &amp; Wharton 2006). Prosody is studied in terms of the Autosegmental and Metrical theory based on the analysis carried out by Gabriel et al. (2010) on the Spanish of Buenos Aires. In addition, intonation is conceived of as a set of procedural instructions, in the sense that it presents the listener with instructions as to how to process the information (House 2006). Tone choices are compared between Argentinean Spanish from Patagonia and the English spoken in the southeast of England, with the purpose of finding similarities and differences in the prosodic patterns (tone choices, pitch and boundary tones) present in non-conclusive declarative sentences. The differences that have been found in terms of the type and form of tonal configurations might function as the starting point to identify possible difficulties that speakers of English as a second language may encounter.</text>

ABSTRACT
The objective of this article is to present a didactic proposal through which the study of grammar contents could foster the systematization and strengthening of strategies to comprehend and produce texts on the part of students. In concrete, the activities provided are specially designed for first, second and third period of elementary school. The grammatical content that serves as a focal point for our discussion is argument structure of predicates. According to Grimshaw (1990), argument structure is the lexical representation of the grammatical information about a given predicate (i.e., quantity and hierarchy of arguments and thematic roles). On the basis of this definition, we argue that grammar activities on distinct aspects of argument structure can serve as a strategy to comprehend how meaning is structured at the level of the sentence. Furthermore, the work on argument structure allows us to reconsider some of the stipulated contents present in official curricular designs (concretely, the curriculum design of Río Negro, Argentina).</text>

From a phonological approach, speech rhythm has been conceived of as the product of different phonetic and phonological properties, such as syllabic structure, the role of stress and vowel reduction. Spanish and English represent two clearly different rhythmic typologies. Many acoustic measurements have been developed in order to account for the rhythmic differences among languages. In this study two rhythm metrics are adopted: %V and VarcoV. These metrics are computed considering two treatments for pauses (method A and B from the software Correlatore) and the treatment for intervals before pauses (with inclusion or exclusion of final intervals). By means of a corpus obtained experimentally, different measurements are compared so as to get the most productive way of distinguishing the rhythm of Spanish in Patagonia, Argentina, and the rhythm from standard British English and standard American English. The results indicate that the most effective technique for reflecting rhythmical differences is by means of VarcoV, method B and exclusion of final intervals.</span></p></text>

The present work falls within the framework of the Research Project «Differences and contact points between oral and written didactic discourse in French and English and its link with the teaching of foreign languages». This study focuses on the master class<br />(hereinafter CM) as a genre of oral scientific-academic discourse in a foreign language. The CM is a pedagogical discourse, registered in an institutional context aimed at an asymmetric public whose function is to transmit knowledge. For its exploratory and descriptive study we have constituted a corpus of three CM in online video that deal with various<br />themes of the humanistic area. We take as a point of reference for its characterization the multidimensional model of Ciapuscio and Kugel (2002) that proposes four levels of gender analysis. The results of this work will allow us to characterize the different nuances that the CM presents in French language and then design a didactic approach adapted to the teaching of French with University Objectives (FUO).</p></text>

In addition, there is a restriction regarding the linear disposition of DdS. S1 and S2 cannot be adjacent, and at least the intonational phrase nucleus (IN) must occur between them. The aim of this work is to offer an analysis of DdS. Our main claim is that DdS structures involve a coordination of two clauses, CP1 and CP2. In CP2, S2 moves-A’ to the left periphery of the clause. Then, TP is elided. Our analysis is based on the proposals of Ott &amp; de Vries’s (2016), Truckenbrodt (2016), and Fernández-Sánchez (2017), among others, for cases of right-dislocation (RD). Specifically, we argue that DdS structures are comparable to RD in syntactic, prosodic, and informative terms.</text>

<p align="justify">In this work, we propose a classifi cation and description of specialized texts, defined as specifi c communicative registers, which address topics of the specialty domain and have rhetorical conventions of each discipline. Within the framework of Text-Typology Theory and genre analysis we will analyze a corpus composed of fi fteen written texts, from the scientifi c-academic fi eld of Engineering and Environmental Sciences that are used in courses of English for Specifi c Purposes at National University of Comahue. This paper attempts to highlight those micro and macro-structural elements that are necessary to identify for the teaching of English for Specifi c Purposes. First, we will briefl y describe reading courses at university and then continue with the theoretical framework of this work. We will then proceed with a detailed description of specialized texts, taking into account the type of participants and scope of use, the text-type and genre, the linguistic resources used to convey the information. We will conclude that applying texttype typologies to a methodological approach will contribute to an adequate selection and sequencing of the teaching material and will help articulate previous studies of genre analysis with the teaching of a foreign language.</p></text>

Research by Boers<span>&nbsp;</span></span><em><span xml:lang="en" lang="en">et al</span></em><span xml:lang="en" lang="en"><span>&nbsp;</span>[2006], Eyckmans [2007], Stengers [2009] and Wray &amp; Fitzpatrick [2008] suggests that good command of these phrases in the foreign language (FL), of their typical occurrence and of their use restrictions contributes to learners’ fluency, and is taken as evidence of a high level of proficiency. Boers &amp; Lindstromberg [2012] argue that explicit FS instruction accompanied by awareness-raising tasks yield significant learning gains, especially in FL contexts. As a pushed-output procedure, Wajnryb’s dictogloss technique [1990] has recently been adapted in FS-focused instruction studies like those of Janssens [2016] and Lindstromberg, Eyckmans &amp; Connabeer [2016]. In similar fashion, we designed an experimental study for the teaching of nine pedagogically relevant sequences with Spanish-L1 EFL university learners. Two types of treatment were implemented with a focus on the target FSs’ meanings, forms and uses with two naturally-occurring learner groups (Group&nbsp;1, N=13, and Group&nbsp;2, N=17), whose performance was compared to that of a control group (N=7). Group&nbsp;1 completed a set of Focus-on-Form activities [Doughty &amp; Williams 1998], while Group&nbsp;2 carried out two sessions of FS-oriented dictogloss. Results show that learners in Group&nbsp;2 produced 40 instances of the target FS in five essay-writing tasks at different stages of the study and as late as a month and a half post intervention. By contrast, Group&nbsp;1 produced 23 instances of seven target FSs across three essay writing tasks, six weeks after treatment. These findings indicate that dictogloss seems to reinforce advanced students’ familiarization with target FS in context, and FS memory retention over time. Based on the descriptive analysis of uncued target FSs produced by learners in their written production tasks, the possible contributions of dictogloss to long-term FS acquisition are discussed.</span></p></text>
