<span>El presente trabajo tiene como objeto abordar el último disco de la autora y artista muscogee Joy Harjo para indagar de qué manera se produce el encuentro entre la música nativa y los elementos del poprock que se fusionan en los temas. Resulta indispensable, además, analizar cómo se construye la identidad cultural del disco no solo en lo que respecta a los estilos musicales que se entrelazan sino a la experiencia que se narra en las letras. El análisis pretende dar cuenta de cómo la autora se sirve de una diversidad de lenguajes (la lengua muscogee, la lengua inglesa, los instrumentos muscogee y del pop-rock) para transmitir una identidad etno-nacional que, argumentamos, es el resultado de un proceso de transculturación. Por último, música y narración se entrelazan para configurar un lugar de la memoria en el que se dibujan imágenes y sonidos que evocan el pasado de la nación muscogee, su presente y, tal vez, su dirección futura. </span>
The aim of this paper is to address the last music album released by Joy Harjo, author and artist of the Muscogee nation, in order to discuss the way in which the different elements of pop-rock and native music come together. This will lead us to approach, as well, the cultural identity that the album constructs not only regarding the fusion of music styles but also with respect to the subject’s experience narrated in the lyrics. Our analysis will take us to enquire into how the author uses a series of languages (the Muscogee language, the English language, the language of music in the use of Muscogee instruments and pop-rock) to transmit an ethno-national identity that, we argue, is the result of a transculturation process. Last, music and narration sing together to create a site of memory in which images and sounds that represent the past, present and, perhaps, future direction of the Muscogee nation are (re)created.

<span>En este artículo indagamos en la problemática de empleabilidad de los graduados de traducción de universidades argentinas y profundizamos en la noción y componentes de la competencia profesional. La revisión bibliográfica que realizamos para este estudio muestra que el mercado laboral de la traducción latinoamericano es activo, joven y en constante crecimiento, y que la problemática de empleabilidad no es privativa de nuestro país. Con el propósito de documentar la perspectiva de los graduados respecto de su inserción en el mercado laboral, llevamos adelante una encuesta. Aunque participaron solo 73 graduados, los datos que surgen del análisis de los planes de estudios parecen confirmar, al menos de manera preliminar, la opinión de los encuestados. Los resultados de este estudio muestran que, a pesar de sus limitaciones en cuanto al volumen de la muestra y a las posibilidades de conocer en profundidad lo que ocurre en el aula en la que se desarrolla el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la traducción, es necesario buscar estrategias para fortalecer las habilidades y conocimientos ligados a la competencia profesional a fin de contribuir a remediar el problema de empleabilidad de nuestros graduados.</span>

An account of the resource
En este artículo indagamos en la problemática de empleabilidad de los graduados de traducción de universidades argentinas y profundizamos en la noción y componentes de la competencia profesional. La revisión bibliográfica que realizamos para este estudio muestra que el mercado laboral de la traducción latinoamericano es activo, joven y en constante crecimiento, y que la problemática de empleabilidad no es privativa de nuestro país. Con el propósito de documentar la perspectiva de los graduados respecto de su inserción en el mercado laboral, llevamos adelante una encuesta. Aunque participaron solo 73 graduados, los datos que surgen del análisis de los planes de estudios parecen confirmar, al menos de manera preliminar, la opinión de los encuestados. Los resultados de este estudio muestran que, a pesar de sus limitaciones en cuanto al volumen de la muestra y a las posibilidades de conocer en profundidad lo que ocurre en el aula en la que se desarrolla el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la traducción, es necesario buscar estrategias para fortalecer las habilidades y conocimientos ligados a la competencia profesional a fin de contribuir a remediar el problema de empleabilidad de nuestros graduados.

<span>En este artículo se presentan los resultados de un estudio del proceso de traducción que compara y describe el comportamiento de estudiantes, que transitan etapas distintas de formación, ante un problema y en la toma de decisiones durante la traducción escrita del inglés al español. Para este objetivo, se diseñó una investigación cuasiexperimental, con fines exploratorios. Se observó el proceso a través de grabaciones de pantallas, verbalizaciones simultáneas y cuestionarios postareas; y se evaluó la aceptabilidad del producto. Se llevó adelante el análisis inductivo de los datos del proceso y un análisis deductivo de los datos del producto. La generación de códigos y categorías mediante procedimientos de codificación de la Teoría Fundamentada permitió elaborar, desde un enfoque procesual, taxonomías de problemas, de criterios de toma de decisiones y de decisiones. A partir de las categorías analizadas y de una serie de atributos se describieron los comportamientos y perfiles de acción, de búsqueda y resolutorio de traductores en formación.</span>

<span>Con el propósito de formar a los estudiantes para enfrentar las demandas emergentes de mercado, las instituciones formadoras de traductores han adaptado sus planes de estudio para incorporar asignaturas de tecnologías de la traducción. En este escenario, el objetivo de este trabajo es describir la propuesta didáctica de la asignatura Taller de Herramientas para la Traducción de la carrera de Traductorado Público en idioma inglés de la Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCo), Argentina. Esta propuesta centrada en el estudiante busca desarrollar la subcompetencia instrumental-profesional (Kelly, 2002), introducir la variedad de herramientas generales y especializadas disponibles para el traductor y desarrollar la autonomía de los estudiantes en el manejo de las herramientas informáticas aplicadas a la traducción. Se presentan los fundamentos teóricos que subyacen la propuesta, algunos de los objetivos planteados, los contenidos abordados, algunas de las actividades desarrolladas y los instrumentos de evaluación propuestos. Finalmente, se plantean desafíos percibidos a la luz de la experiencia en el dictado de esta asignatura.</span>

Desde principios del siglo XXI, la importancia de las tareas de búsqueda de información como parte del proceso de traducción ha ganado reconocimiento a partir de su inclusión dentro de la competencia instrumental. Con el objetivo de detectar tendencias en las características de las búsquedas de información en función de los años de experiencia profesional, en este trabajo se analizan las respuestas obtenidas a una encuesta realizada a traductores profesionales del par de lenguas inglés-español en relación con sus habilidades informacionales: las necesidades de información, las estrategias de búsqueda en Internet, los tipos de fuentes consultadas para distintas necesidades y los criterios de evaluación de las fuentes consultadas.

Leopoldo Labastía es Doctor en Filología por la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Madrid, España) y Magíster en Lingüística por la Universidad Nacional del Comahue (Argentina). Su tesis de doctorado estudia la relación entre la entonación y la estructura informativa en español rioplatense. Trabaja como docente en la Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCo) desde el año 1990 y, en noviembre de 2022, a partir de su jubilación, fue nombrado Profesor titular ad honorem en esta casa de estudios. A nivel de posgrado ha dictado seminarios sobre fonología, semántica y pragmática en la Maestría en Lingüística y ha formado parte del cuerpo docente para el dictado del seminario introductorio correspondiente a las tres carreras de posgrado de la Facultad de Lenguas de la UNCo. En esta entrevista nos cuenta sobre su recorrido académico y los intereses en la investigación que lo han llevado a convertirse en un referente en lo que respecta a la relación entre la prosodia y la pragmática.

The aim of this research is to investigate the prosodic realization of two political discourse practices, a speech and an interview, by the same speaker. The different nuclear tone configurations and the segmentation of speech in prosodic units are studied: intermediate phrases, intonational phrases and phrase sequences. In particular, the role of phrase sequences and their intonation in the organization of discourse is studied, together with their impact in the realm of politics. From the pragmatic point of view, this work is based on Relevance Theory (Sperber and Wilson1995 Wilson and Sperber 2004) to account for the procedural meaning of each nuclear tone configuration (Labastía 2011, 2016, 2018Dabrowski and Labastía 2013). From the prosodic point of view, it is framed in the Autosegmental-Metrical model (Hualde, 2003) and the Sp_ToBI transcription system (Sosa 2003) applied to River Plate Spanish (Gabriel et al 2010). The different prosodic elements are identified and an auditory transcription is made of the initial fragments of both discourse practices, which is later corroborated by means of the PRAAT acoustic analysis software (Boersma and Weeninck 2019). The research reveals prosodic differences both in the segmentation of discourse and in the frequency of appearance of the different nuclear tone configurations. Besides, the distribution of the different configurations in the phrase sequences reveals different speaker stances in relation to his audience.

The main objective in this study is to describe and offer an account of verbal non-local doubling in Patagonian Spanish (PatSp), an understudied non-standard variety of Spanish in Argentina. We focus on data in which there are duplicated verbs surrounding an XP that bears the nuclear accent of the phrase (XPNA). First, our analysis describes the prosodic, semantic, and morphosyntactic behaviour of the data gathered. Second, we present the problems and challenges that doubling phenomena in PatSp pose for approaches that have tried to explain similar data in other Spanish varieties and other languages, such as the copy theory or prosodic cloning. Third, this work explores a biclausal analysis of verbal non-local doubling in PatSp in which each duplicate originates in a different clause, CP1 and CP2. In this approach, duplicated verbs (V1 and V2, according to their linear distribution) are not derivationally related. We also argue that the XPNA moves to the left periphery of CP2. This movement would account for the three typical traits of verbal duplication in PatSp: the mandatory adjacency between the nuclear accent and V2, the non-locality between verbal duplicates, and the semantic value of mirativity.

Los estudios diacrónicos sobre las lenguas han ocupado diferentes lugares en la agenda de la investigación lingüística. Actualmente, en el marco de la Gramática Generativa, el abordaje diacrónico resulta fundamental para indagar en el problema de la adquisición, desde una nueva perspectiva. En este artículo nos centramos en el vínculo entre el cambio lingüístico y la adquisición del lenguaje, a fin de proponer algunas reflexiones sobre los objetivos actuales de la Gramática Generativa en relación con estas dos líneas de investigación.
ABSTRACT
Diachronic studies have received varying degrees of attention in the linguistic research agenda. Currently, in the Generative framework, diachronic approaches have become relevant to the exploration and analysis of the acquisition problem from a new perspective. In this paper, we focus on the relationship between language change and language acquisition, in order to advance some insights on the current goals of Generative Grammar, taking into account both lines of research.

Este trabajo discute la realización del sujeto en inglés como Lengua Segunda en casos de mapeos no canónicos entre roles temáticos y funciones sintácticas, específicamente en estructuras inacusativas. La lengua materna de los alumnos en este estudio es español, la que difiere del inglés en dos aspectos cruciales: (i) en inglés, a diferencia del español, el sujeto es explícito, y (ii) en oraciones declarativas el sujeto precede al verbo, mientras que el español permite sujetos posverbales en algunos casos, particularmente en oraciones inacusativas y pasivas. Examinaremos esta cuestión por medio de dos tareas experimentales: una sobre juicios de gramaticalidad y otra sobre traducción inversa. El propósito final es explorar la relación entre los errores y las intuiciones lingüísticas de los alumnos, así como el papel de una enseñanza basada en el análisis lingüístico.Palabras clave: inacusativos, roles temáticos y funciones sintácticas, adquisición de la segunda lengua
ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the realisation of the subject in L2 English in a case of non-canonical mapping between theta roles and syntactic functions, specifically in the case of unaccusatives. The learners’ L1 is Spanish, which differs from English in two crucial respects: (i) in English, as opposed to Spanish, the subject is obligatorily overt, and (ii) in English, declarative sentences the subject precedes the finite verb, while Spanish allows for postverbal subjects in some cases, notably with unaccusatives and passives. We will examine the issue by means of a grammaticality judgment and a translation task. The final aim is to explore the relation between errors and linguistic intuitions of the learners, as well as the importance of linguistically informed teaching.Keywords: unaccusatives, thematic roles and syntactic functions, second language acquisition

El fenómeno de los clíticos marginales ha sido estudiado en distintas lenguas romances y en lenguas como el griego moderno (Spitzer 1941, Bibis & Roberge 2004, Espinal 2009, Leivada & Grohmann 2014, entre otros). En español rioplatense, el clítico marginal la ocurre de manera productiva en verbos como zurdearla, kirchneriarla y hipiarla, preferentemente en un registro informal. A diferencia de los casos estudiados en la bibliografía, se trata de un patrón morfológico y semántico recurrente, [Npredicativo/modal-ear-CLmarginal.Acc.fem.sg]Verbo. Nuestro objetivo en este trabajo es describir el comportamiento sintáctico y semántico de los verbos de la forma [Npredicativo/modal-ear-CLmarginal.Acc.fem.sg]Verbo. Para ello, partimos de la hipótesis de que los verbos estudiados no forman expresiones idiomáticas, sino que se trata de un fenómeno productivo, de significado composicional. Nuestro análisis está basado en las propuestas neoconstruccionistas, en el marco de la gramática generativa, según las cuales las estructuras sintácticas se forman a partir de la combinación de núcleos funcionales y raíces gramaticalmente opacas, lo que da lugar a significados composicionales y predecibles.
ABSTRACT
The marginal clitics phenomena have been studied in several Romance languages and languages like Modern Greek (Spitzer 1941, Bibis & Roberge 2004, Espinal 2009, Leivada & Grohmann 2014, among other authors). In Rioplantense Spanish, the marginal clitic la (3.sg.Acc.fem) occurs productively in verbs such as zurdearla (‘left-ear it’), kirchneriarla (‘Kirchner-ear it’) y hipiarla (‘hippie-ear it’), principally in informal register. In contrast to the cases studied in the literature, this is a recurring morphological and semantic pattern, i.e., [Npredicative/modal-ear-CLmarginal.Acc.fem.sg]Verb. The aim of this paper is to describe the syntactic and semantic characteristics of [Npredicative/modal-ear-CLmarginal.Acc.fem.sg]Verb verbs. In order to do this, we postulate the following hypothesis: the verbs studied are not idiomatic expressions but productive phenomena whose meaning is compositional. Our analysis is based on neo-constructionist approaches, in the Generative Grammar framework. These theories propose that all syntactic structures are built by combining functional heads and grammatically opaque roots, which gives rise to compositional and predictable meanings.

El marco teórico de la Gramática Generativa argumenta que el ser humano posee una facultad del lenguaje con especificaciones lingüísticas heredada genéticamente. Desde este enfoque, el niño no asiste a la escuela para aprender su lengua materna ya que esta ya fue adquirida y no presenta aspectos deficientes o rudimentarios que deban ser perfeccionados. En este sentido, se plantea la necesidad de correrse de una pedagogía tradicional que solo focalice la práctica escolar en actividades como la memorización de reglas o análisis de oraciones. Este trabajo presenta posibles implicancias pedagógicas que la concepción innatista supone para la enseñanza de gramática en la clase de lengua. A la luz de estas implicancias teóricas, se busca reflexionar acerca de las nociones de gramaticalidad, corrección y adecuación y la manera en que estas pueden materializarse en una práctica pedagógica que permita explorar los mecanismos productivos de la lengua a través de tareas de análisis, comparación y generalización. Concretamente, esta discusión se presentará con actividades realizadas en el marco de dos talleres para docentes en Río Negro que muestran estos ejes centrales con temas como el uso del artículo definido con nombres propios y diferentes fenómenos de concordancia en la variedad de español presente en la Línea Sur de esta provincia.
ABSTRACT
The Generative framework argues that human beings are genetically endowed to acquire language. This capacity comes from a language faculty with linguistic specifications that shape the language acquisition process. According to this approach, the child does not attend school to learn his mother tongue since he has already acquired it and this language is as perfect and complex as any other human language in the world. In this sense, it is suggested that we move away from a traditional view on grammar teaching that only focuses school practices on activities such as rule memorisation or sentence analysis. This paper analyses the pedagogical implications that the Innatist programme has on the teaching of grammar in the language classroom. First, we reflect on the notions of grammaticality, correctness and adequacy and how these can materialise into activities that allow for the exploration of language through activities that involve the analysis, comparison and generalisation of linguistic phenomena. To achieve this aim, the activities proposed in two workshops for teachers, in Río Negro will be analysed. These show a possible way in which these central axes can be dealt with in grammar topics such as the use of the definite article with proper names and different agreement phenomena in the Spanish variety characteristic of people at Linea Sur in our province.

El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar una propuesta didáctica en la cual el trabajo con contenidos gramaticales apunte a fortalecer y sistematizar estrategias para la comprensión y producción de textos de los estudiantes. En concreto, se proponen distintas consignas orientadas a estudiantes de nivel primario de primer, segundo y tercer ciclo. El contenido gramatical que nos sirve como eje de la discusión es la estructura argumental (EA) de los predicados. De acuerdo con Grimshaw (1990), entendemos que la estructura argumental es la representación léxica de la información gramatical sobre un predicado (i.e., cantidad y jerarquía de argumentos y roles temáticos). A partir de esta definición, en este artículo afirmamos que la ejercitación gramatical en el aula acerca de distintos aspectos relacionados con la estructura argumental puede servir como estrategia para comprender cómo se estructura el significado en las oraciones. El trabajo sobre la estructura argumental, además, nos permite repensar algunos de los contenidos estipulados en los diseños curriculares oficiales (concretamente, de aquellos de la provincia de Río Negro, Argentina).

The objective of this article is to present a didactic proposal through which the study of grammar contents could foster the systematization and strengthening of strategies to comprehend and produce texts on the part of students. In concrete, the activities provided are specially designed for first, second and third period of elementary school. El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar una propuesta didáctica en la cual el trabajo con contenidos gramaticales apunte a fortalecer y sistematizar estrategias para la comprensión y producción de textos de los estudiantes. La convocatoria de este dossier sobre enseñanza de la gramática desde una perspectiva formal surge del coloquio que tuvo lugar en el XV Congreso de la Sociedad Argentina de Lingüística durante 2018 y tiene como finalidad promover el intercambio entre docentes-investigadores de Argentina sobre las maneras de abordar la enseñanza de la gramática en distintos niveles educativos. El objetivo de discutir y repensar la enseñanza de la gramática nace de una preocupación compartida con colegas de diferentes puntos del país y del mundo: el peso de la mirada normativa de la lengua que predomina en escuelas, en institutos de educación superior y en la sociedad en general, en desmedro de la posibilidad de un abordaje reflexivo, que tienda a la formulación de preguntas y al planteo de problemas. Esta preocupación ha sido señalada explícitamente por Di Tullio en diferentes manuales, artículos y conferencias (1990, 2005, 2012, 2015), Defagó (2001, 2016), Otañi & Gaspar (2005), por nombrar sólo algunos de los trabajos vinculados con esta problemática en Argentina. En esta presentación, me detendré en los dos problemas que se han señalado como centrales en lo que refiere a la enseñanza de la gramática (§2) y en una descripción resumida de una aproximación formal a esta (§3), para luego exponer brevemente los artículos que conforman el dossier (§4).

La convocatoria de este dossier sobre enseñanza de la gramática desde una perspectiva formal surge del coloquio que tuvo lugar en el XV Congreso de la Sociedad Argentina de Lingüística durante 2018 y tiene como finalidad promover el intercambio entre docentes-investigadores de Argentina sobre las maneras de abordar la enseñanza de la gramática en distintos niveles educativos. El objetivo de discutir y repensar la enseñanza de la gramática nace de una preocupación compartida con colegas de diferentes puntos del país y del mundo: el peso de la mirada normativa de la lengua que predomina en escuelas, en institutos de educación superior y en la sociedad en general, en desmedro de la posibilidad de un abordaje reflexivo, que tienda a la formulación de preguntas y al planteo de problemas. Los mitos están presentes en diferentes ámbitos. En este ensayo nos centramos en el mito de la dificultad que se plantea en relación con una supuesta falta de lógica. Para desarticular este mito, proponemos un recorrido en torno a uno de los instrumentos musicales más característicos de la música popular argentina, el bandoneón, y a la predicación de dificultad aplicada a ciertas lenguas. Nuestro objetivo es mostrar de qué manera este mito no solo es falaz para lenguas y bandoneones, sino que puede tener un resultado sumamente perjudicial.
Abstract
Myths are found in different fields. In this essay we focus on the myth of difficulty in relation to an apparent lack of reasoning. In order to question this myth, we propose an account of one of the most characteristic instruments in Argentinian popular music, the bandoneon, and of the alleged difficulty associated with some languages. Our goal is to show that this myth is not only false for languages and bandoneons, but it also may result in dangerous consequences for both.

En este ensayo, nuestro objetivo es enfatizar una analogía entre la creatividad lingüística y la potencia inventora del fútbol de Diego Armando Maradona. Para ello, y a modo ilustrativo, realizamos algunas apreciaciones sintácticas y semánticas respecto de secuencias como el Diego, en las que un sustantivo propio está precedido por un artículo. Intentamos mostrar que en estas secuencias el sustantivo propio se asocia con características, rasgos y propiedades de la entidad a la que dicho sustantivo refiere. Dado este proceso, creemos, el sustantivo propio se recategoriza como sustantivo común y, como tal, se puede combinar con un artículo.
Abstract
The goal of this essay is to emphasize an analogy between language creativity and the inventive power of Diego Armando Maradona’s football. Accordingly, we develop some syntactic and semantic remarks concerning sequences like el Diego, in which there is proper noun preceded by a definite article. The essay tries to show that in these phrases the proper noun presents characteristics, features and properties of the referred entity. This process would show that the proper noun is recategorized as a common noun and, as such can hence be combined with a definite article.

La oposición de la serie de oclusivas en base al rasgo glotis constreñida [g.c.] solamente se registra en aproximadamente un 16 % de los inventarios fonológicos de las lenguas del mundo (Maddieson 1984). En la lengua nivaĉle (mataguaya), el contraste pulmónico vs. eyectivo involucra distintos puntos y modos de articulación, pero solamente ocurre en posición de ataque. En base a muestras de habla controlada tomadas con un hablante nivaĉle de la comunidad Uj’e Lhavos, Paraguay, este trabajo presenta un estudio fonético de las oclusivas sordas y eyectivas. A partir de 118 repeticiones de palabras, se obtuvieron 590 valores, que se computaron estadísticamente de manera descriptiva e inferencial por medio de ANOVAS. Se consideró el tipo de sonido según el mecanismo de la corriente de aire y el lugar de articulación, y se analizaron las siguientes medidas acústicas: (i) la duración del cierre, (ii) el tiempo del inicio de la voz (VOT), (iii) la perturbación de la frecuencia fundamental (F0), (iv) el jitter y (v) la transición a la amplitud máxima (rise time). Los parámetros acústicos utilizados permiten distinguir los tipos de oclusivas de manera significativa.

The opposition of the series of stops based on the constricted glottis feature [c.g.] –i.e., pulmonic vs. ejectives– only occurs in approximately 16 % of the phonological inventories of the world’s languages (Maddieson 1984). In Nivaĉle (Mataguayan), the pulmonic vs. ejective contrast involves different places and modes of articulation, but only occurs in onset position. Based on an elicitation task with a Nivaĉle speaker from the Uj’e Lhavos community, Paraguay, this paper presents a preliminary acoustic study of voiceless and ejective stops. Based on 118 repetitions of words, 590 values were obtained, which were statistically computed in a descriptive and inferential way by means of ANOVAS. The type of sound was analyzed according to the airstream mechanism and the place of articulation. The following acoustic measures were analyzed: (i) duration of the closure, (ii) voice onset time (VOT), (iii) perturbation of the fundamental frequency (F0), (iv) jitter, and (v) rise time. The results show statistically significant values for the distinction of the stops under study.
